It tells the story of a group of survivors in a dystopian Germany of the year 2016, when solar flares have destroyed the earth’s atmosphere and temperatures have risen by 10° C. The survivors are on their way into the mountains where they expect to find water and vegetation. One of my favourite sub-genre’s of horror is Post Aplocalyptic, so I rented Hell immediately upon reading the description. The German subs didn’t bother me at all (I watch tons of foreign horror). The entire film was shot with glaring sunlight, blinding in most scenes, which I found very effective as Hell takes place in a near future where the sun played a key role in earths demise. The survivors scavenge endlessly for water, fuel and food avoiding direct sunlight when and where possible; this painted a pretty bleak picture of a future where climate change has pretty much f%^ked things up bad! Sprinkle in some cannibalism, sex slavery and killing and Hell makes for a great (if not depressing and bleak) post apocalpytic joy ride. Hell @ IMDB
